We are a community based effort seeking to bring positive change to Richmond Public Schools through projects and fundraising efforts to support our students and teachers.

Board of Directors

As a city resident for over 26 years, I have always been engaged in selling and promoting the City. My wife and I opened Lift Coffee Shop on Broad Street 10 years ago which led to my association with the Downtown Neighborhood Association where  I currently serve as Treasurer.  I am also one of the founders of Broad Appetit.  Through the Downtown Neighborhood Association I've had the opportunity to become more involved in the Richmond political and development scene. I have also been fortunate enough to sit on the board of the RVA Coalition for Smart Transit.

I graduated from the University of Richmond in 1990 with a BA in Political Science and never left town. I am currently employed as a Real Estate Broker with One South Realty Group.

As a father of 2 Fox elementary School students, I have seen what a truly amazing RPS school can do to the development of my two children. I am looking forward to continuing to send my kids to RPS schools.

As a community organizer I have worked on a variety of projects from parking and neighborhood issues with the West Grace Street Association to education and even public gardening. I have been involved with the garden and learning task forces for RPS. I served on the PTA board at Richmond Community High School for 7 years and the RCHS Advisory Board for eight years. I am a past mentor for the Carver Promise. My husband and I  moved to West Grace Street in 2002 specifically to move our children into urban schools so we have been active parents at all levels in RPS with our two younger kids having attended Fox, Albert Hill, and both graduated from Richmond Community High school.

I also serve on the board at RVA Coalition for Smart Transit, a community based organization advocating for equitable and thoughtful public transportation options. I am a long time supporter of the Richmond SPCA and Humane Society of the US.  I am a native New Mexican and member of the Muscogee Creek Nation. I have been married to my wonderful husband since 1984 and we have three children. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science/Public Administration from the University of  Arkansas. I am a licensed Realtor in the Commonwealth of Virginia and a fan of all things RVA!

Alyse Marshall-Auernheimer

As a first grade teacher in Richmond City Public Schools I believe in advocating for the needs of students and teachers alike.  All students deserve a quality education and that means having the resources they need, talented educators, and a functional and pleasing learning environment.  As one of the co-founders of the Support Richmond Public Schools movement I have worked to inform and mobilize teachers, students and community members to lobby for better conditions and resources for Richmond Public Schools.

I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Art History from Virginia Tech and a Master's of Teaching from Mary Baldwin College.  I married my best friend, Satish and we have three wonderful children.  I currently teach first grade at William Fox Elementary.

Jen Ramachandran

I have been an educator for over 20 years and am a long-term member of the West Grace Street Association, as well as Secretary of the WGSA Board.  I am also a member of the RVA Coalition for Smart Transit.  I have lived in Richmond since 1997, and am married with two children.  I have a B.A from UVA and an M.S. from Georgetown University.

I have been teaching in Richmond for the past 14 years.  Since the beginning of my career I have been involved with advocating for the children of Richmond.  You can often find me at City Hall attending either a School Board or City Council meeting.   As one of the co-founders of the Support Richmond Public Schools movement I helped organize and rally the community to advocate for additional funding for Richmond Public Schools. I believe all children deserve a safe and healthy school building where they can flourish and learn.

In addition to being a teacher, I am also a wife and mother to a wonderful 6 year old son.  I have a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Virginia Commonwealth University.
